How well do you know the cultures of your Toronto neighbours? Can you identify the countries of origin of the food, festivals, or symbols in 25 images taken in or near Toronto?

Here’s a chance to test yourself and to consult with your Portuguese- or Russian- or Indian-Canadian friends or school mates. The images were taken at festivals, parades, and religious buildings. Some were taken in restaurants, malls, and parks, and places like Harbourfront Centre and Nathan Phillips Square.

You’ll find the contest images in TorontoMulticulturalCalendar.com.
Clues are in the photos themselves, in the costumes, activity, or in the signs. You might find hints by looking through the following Blogs and in the list of 2010 events in our www.TorontoMulticulturalCalendar.com . You will see some of the pictures in my www.VisualTravelTours.com‘s story on the “World in Toronto.”

Some of the images are easy to identify like the one above. A few are tricky. We’ll be dropping more hints in this Blog between now and May 1. It would be a good idea to click on “Email Subscription” so you will be notified of new posts by email. It’s under the flags above.

  2. Contest rules as well as the images are on the home page of www.TorontoMulticulturalCalendar.com. The contest is only open to people who reside in Ontario. The deadline for entries is May 1, 2011 and the winner will be announced on May 15, 2011 in this Blog and in www.twitter.com/torontomulticul. If we receive more than one correct entry, we will draw a winner from all the correct entries on May 14. Our aim is to stimulate interest in Toronto’s rich multicultural opportunities and encourage a feeling of community in our diverse city.
