Many Chinese New Year celebrations are aimed at Toronto’s Chinese. Harbourfront’s LunarFest is for everybody and it’s entirely in English. It’s participatory. You can dress up like Julia Keech in a traditional costume and have your picture taken.

It is multicultural. Ceremonial lions are not just Chinese. They are found in other cultures too. From left to right: Japanese, Korean, Northern China and Taiwan.

At Harbourfront, you can ice skate too. Your kids can get a skating lesson.

You can buy dumplings to eat, but alas, mine were too dry. They weren’t very good. But they too were multicultural: Korean, Japanese or Chinese. At least they were cheap. Yesterday was a beautiful day but getting around the city was not easy with our record-breaking snow fall. Maybe you can make it today.

    1. Peter, many thanks for sharing your video of Harbourfront’s Lantern Jungle. The Lantern Festival
is at the end of the Lunar New Year celebrations in Asia and your video did it justice.
