Japan has given us some wonderful cultural gifts and it just keeps on giving. If you’ve already looked at our blogs on Spotlight Japan and on the upcoming Spring Festival, then look again. There’s the March 2 Hina Matsuri Doll Festival at the Japan Foundation. At the Berkeley Theatre, look for free events like a reading of two plays by Oriza Hirata on March 1 and 2. One of these is “a black comedy that re-enacts the conference of Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt in Yalta post-WWII.” The subject is the division of Europe and what to do about Japan.

There’s also free sake, soba cooking, and robotic demonstrations there. See: http://bit.ly/UYuEGV and click on “Schedule of Events.”

Thanks to P. Anne Winter for keeping us up to date on these cultural opportunities. For Anne’s recent Blogs on Japanese cultural events in Toronto, http://bit.ly/Unv89x http://bit.ly/Xxkmi5 and http://bit.ly/Unv89x .

We are anxious to hear about events from other cultures too. Please send information to us at: ruthlormalloy@yahoo.com .

  1. Thanks for a very interesting website. What else could I get that kind of info written in such a perfect manner? I have a challenge that I’m simply now operating on, and I’ve been on the look out for such information.
