This festival is open to the public and free for everyone. For more info: www.kurakake-market.jp.

 

Matsuri” is a word from Japanese meaning “Festival”. Each summer one such festivals is held in every part of Japan bringing the local people together and in effect exploring the community and its groups. Normally, these events are held in parks and conducted in leisure with traditions common to most Matsuri but also with traditions specific to each.

 

Performance Schedule

 

11 am MATSURI Official Opening w/ RAW Taiko Drummers by Consulate General of Japan in Toronto

 

12 pm Japanese Visitorʼs Association – Cultural Skit

 

1 pm Geisha to appear

 

1:15 pm Toronto Buddhist Temple Buyo Group – Traditional dance performance

 

2 pm Sakura Mai – Yosakoi dance performance

 

2:40 pm Limitless Productions – Modern dance

 

3 pm Ten Ten – Modernized Japanese Folk

 

3:45 pm Toronto Kendo Club – Kendo demonstration

 

4:30 pm Toronto Kimono Club – Yukata Fashion Show by Consulate General of Japan in Toronto

 

5:15 pm Sakura Mai – Yosakoi dance performance

 

6 pm Miray – fusion mopop

 

6:45 pm Anime North – Cosplay Fashion Show

 

7:30 pm O-Mocha – fusion pop
