If you haven’t seen them yet, please try to get to Toronto City Hall by this weekend.

Toronto‘s new edition of Ai Weiwei’s Forever Bicycles sculpture contains 3,144 bicycles forming “a complex labyrinth-like monument to the rapidly changing social environment in China and around the globe.”They have no seats, gears, and no handle bars.

It’s available to see 24 hours a day and it’s free. But it closes soon.

Ai Wei Wei is the Chinese artist whose innovative iconoclastic works and words attack corruption and hypocrisy in China.

His controversial exhibition “According to What?” at the Art Gallery of Ontario also closes on October 27. Most emotionally moving for me there was the reading of the names of the children killed in a recent earthquake – due to the shoddy work by contractors on their schools. But I liked almost everything else there including the snake made of children’s backpacks, symbolic of each child. Then there were the moon-shaped windows lined up in a way I’ve never seen before – and I’ve seen a lot of Chinese windows. What did you think of the exhibits? Ruth.
