575. Victorian ‘Marmalade’ Tea & Talk – February 6, 2016

Ruth writes: Sign up now for February 6 because I expect this event will be sold out soon. We went for a similar tea last week and it was wonderful.  Bone china tea cups. Perfect scones and wonderful sandwiches. An interesting talk about the Victorian Christmas.
This is probably the cheapest English high tea of this quality in Toronto at $14 plus tax. The lecture that day made me smile because we had just seen Murdoch Mysteries Christmas show the evening before. That television show brought to life the era when Christmas trees and stockings “by the fireplace” were new. “Many of our Christmas customs today are from that period,” said speaker Michael at the Market Gallery. The February talk on Victorian Toronto will probably make Murdoch fans smile too. f you can’t make that one, there’s another on March 26.
