647. Festival of Literary Diversity – May 6-8, 2016

This is not a group of authors from diverse cultural backgrounds reading from their works.  It is over 30 authors from diverse cultural backgrounds discussing plot development, Canadian publishing, comedy and prejudice, etc. The authors include Lawrence Hill (The Book of Negroes),  Zarqa Nawaz (Laughing All the Way to the Mosque), Farzana Doctor (Six Metres of Pavement), Dalton Higgins (Far from Over), and Rohinon Mistry (A Fine Balance),  Sessions and workshops range from free to $25 each and are in various venues in Brampton. This festival looks like it’s more about encouraging writers of diverse cultural backgrounds.

Organized by author Ealey Richardson (The Stone Thrower: A Daughter’s Lesson, A Father’s Life, a book about her father Chuck Ealey, former Canadian Football League quarterback).)  For information about the festival and Ealey Richardson, see: TheFoldcanada.org and http://on.thestar.com/1NfQqoH (from The Star).
