- Several important Japanese events are on this month. Thanks to P. Anne Winter and Linda Malloy for telling us about them and sending posters. Ms. Winter writes: “Every one’s summertime favourite. 300 yukata dancers at night singing and swaying to the music. 2. Japan Festival Mississauga 2016. Sunday, July 10. 12pm-8pm. Celebration Square. Says the festival website: The festival “will mark an important occasion for Mississauga; we will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of our sister city partnership with Kariya, Japan. This is an inaugural extravaganza to share Japanese food and culture with the Mississauga community. This event will be similar to a traditional Japanese Summer Festival with Japanese food and beverage booths, entertainment, stage performances, and much more. More information about the Japanese Kimono event at the Textile Museum from John Huculiak, Museum Services Coordinator the Textile Museum: “The PR Company for these performers (Wonderland Media Inc.) booked our Mezzanine for the Japanese Kimono event on July 23, 2pm to 4pm. It is a separate event from the Textile Museum, their clients have free admission to their show on our Mezzanine floor. Though the rental ties nicely to our aesthetic, the Textile Museum of Canada is strictly their renter. This is the reason why you cannot find this event on our website.
