692. September 27-October 2 Multicultural Toronto Events – 2016

Toronto has a wide variety of free and almost-free celebrations and meetings during this period that reflect our city’s multicultural rainbow. Here are some of the events you’ve told us about. We hope you will attend  those of communities outside your own or take your friends to yours.

Japanese-Canadian. Issei Day. October 2. 2-5pm. Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, 6 Garamond Court. This event is for elderly Japanese-Canadians. We mention it because it is a special day in the Japanese community. Issei used to mean “First Generation”, but now the term seems to be applied to any Japanese-Canadian over 70.  http://jccc.on.ca/events-calendar/category/annual-events/upcoming/

South Asian. Suhaag Wedding and Fashion Show Octobet 2 – $15. Free Parking. International Centre in Hall 2, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga. Claims to be the largest such show in North America.

Even if you’re not planning a wedding, a South Asian wedding show is the place to go to learn about different South Asian cultures – and their latest fashions. We always have fun at these – gawking at the beautiful clothes, and sampling wedding confections.  Fashion shows. http://suhaag.com/suhaagshow
