China, First Nations, Ireland, Italy, Punjab, and Ukraine are here but I have to stop adding any more to this blog or I’ll never get it posted. I keep finding more exciting events every day. There are so many cultures represented in Toronto it’s hard to keep up. In this grouping, I’ve also listed a new show by our Black Artists and our first bazaar of the gift-giving season organized by Japanese-Canadians, one of our culturally-diverse communities. And there’s a very significant happening at Nathan Phillips Square.
Names from Irish literature will be added to some lanes in the Beach, and the Irish Centre in Brampton has an Open House. Our Jewish friends will be honouring Jewish authors and Korean and English language lessons will be exchanged again. St. Andrew’s Church starts its noon-hour recitals. You can learn more about the AGO’s major exhibition Anthropocene from a new Podcast, the Netherlands is giving us an ethereal light show, and a Palestine human rights lawyer will speak about peace-making. And what’s best, most of these events are free or almost free.
Black Artists. Opening. Visceral – Gordon Shadrach. October 11. 6-8pm. Free. BAND, 19 Brock Avenue. Exhibition duration: October 11 – November 28. “Visceral is Gordon Shadrach’s follow-up to his first solo exhibition at BAND in the fall of 2017. Ireland. Great Bloomsday Unveiling. Saturday, October 13. 11am. “Some of you may know, there’s been a campaign to have some lane ways in the Beach named in honour of BLOOMSDAY during the past year, and before Councillor Mary Mgt. McMahon retires from municipal politics.
“So the Great Unveiling of these lane ways will take place with a reception at Gastro Pub afterwards. We’re having a party and would love you all to be there.
