Saturday, 13 April 2013 to Monday, 15 April 2013. Thai New Year Songkran. One aspect of this festival is the traditional gentle pouring of cooling water as a symbol of reverence and spiritual cleansing onto elders. Water throwing on friends and strangers alike is now the norm in Thailand. It looks like the only place in Toronto for this water-fight is around the Khao San Road restaurant at 316 Adelaide near Spadina on April 13. To get a feel for this part of the Songkran festival, you might want to go there – but expect to get wet. http://khaosanroad.ca/songkran2556.pdf. For the more religious aspect of this festival, see April 22, Yanviriya Temple, below. Last year’s blog: https://www.torontomulticulturalcalendar.com/2012/04/24/256-thai-new-year-songkran-festival/
NOTE: Sorry, we had the wrong date for the Yanviriya Temple. It was April 21.
