The birthday of the founder of the Sikh religion is its most important festival of the year. Sikh temples are crowded. Sacred music is played. Worshippers line up at a shrine to give food or money to the temple. Vegetarian food is served in the basement without charge. It is a good time to experience this religion from the Punjab in India. Please leave your shoes at the door and cover your head. You can ask questions of the worshippers if you want. Among the many temples in the GTA is also the Scarborough Gurdwara Sahib at 905 Middlefield Road. Tel. 416-299-4800. www.gsabha.com .
