The birthday of the founder of the Sikh religion is its most important festival of the year. Sikh gurdwaras or temples are crowded especially after 4pm. Sacred music is played. Worshippers line up at a shrine to give food or money to the temple. Vegetarian food is served in the basement without charge to everyone. It is a good time to experience this religion. Please leave your shoes at the door and cover your head. You can ask questions of the volunteers if you wish and take pictures if you ask. http://dixiegurdwara.com/
Visitors are also welcome at many other temples in the GTA. A very beautiful new one is the Gudwara Dashmesh Darbar at 4525 Ebenezar Rd, in Brampton. There is also the Scarborough Gurdwara Sahib at 905 Middlefield Road. www.gsabha.com .
