This Spring Festival is celebrated by Hindus traditionally with a bon-fire and the gleeful throwing of coloured water and powder on everyone, friends and strangers alike. It commemorates the overthrow of the King of the Demons, and the victory of good over evil. It celebrates the appearance in India of an incarnation of Lord Krishna in 1486.
