All are welcome to attend this presentation on the activities of peace
churches in York Region during the First World War. Quaker historian
Philip Smith will give a brief introduction to Quaker faith and practice
and speak in detail about the experiences of local Quaker men caught up
in the spectre world conflict. Mennonite historian George Reesor will
discuss the development of the pacifist beliefs of the Mennonites and
the response of the local Mennonite community to the Military Service
Draft.
