Do you know that India’s Republic Day is celebrated in Toronto? It’s Saturday, January 29 from 11am to 5pm. It’s at the Pearson Convention Centre, 2638 Steeles Avenue East in Brampton. Entry and parking are free.

11:00 a.m.: Patriotic Songs and musical segment
12:00 p.m.: National Anthems of Canada and India
12:15 p.m.: Invocation dance – Vande Matram by Menaka Thakkar group.
12:20 p.m.: Remarks by Invited Guests
12:40 p.m.: Folk dance competition
1:30 p.m.: Cultural program continues including Magic Show
2:30 p.m.: Panorama India Idol Contest begins
“There will be a children’s drawing competition as well as Magic Show for all to enjoy. The highlight of the day will once again be the much awaited crowning of our Panorama India Idol 2011! Aspiring singers will compete for prizes worth $1000.”
