I had a quick look at the Ecuadorian Art Exhibition at City Hall today. Six artists based in Ecuador were represented. Some of their many paintings were lovely tourist art. A few were uninteresting turquoise apples. I did find Manolo Marin’s several surrealistic works on Ecuador’s diminishing countryside intriguing. It combines finely painted rain forests and birds with an ecological message.
This is the 5th annual such Art Exhibition mounted to “promote cultural understanding, educational exchange and economic relations between” Toronto and Quito, Ecuador’s capital. You might be interested in seeing it yourself. It continues until May 6. Please let me know what you think of it.
