7 Dec
The French Book Fair, the Christmas flower shows (candlelight on Dec. 8 at Allan Gardens), and Lowe’s Christmas Market continue. Performing at the latter will be Scottish Country Dancers, the St John’s York Mills Handbell Choir, and the Akran Ukrainian Dance Company. You can also enjoy La Chorale Francophone de la region de York, the Toronto Swedish Folk Dancers, and the Lechowia Polish Canadian Dance Company. On Saturday, Mill Street at the Market will be donating one dollar to the Daily Bread Food Bank for everyone singing carols there at 5pm.
Christmas/holiday bazaars and concerts will be all over the city. I suspect the Fair Trade Holiday Bazaar at the Ground Level Cafe on Saturday will have hand-made goods from abroad. On Saturday evening, the Young Nak Orchestra Christmas Concert will be at the Hope United Church (Korean), or you can join Contra Dancing at St Barnabas Anglican Church Hall.
On Sunday, the African Craft Sale & Drum and Song Circle will be at the New Bilan Restaurant, a fund raiser for a school in Gambia. The Christmas Flower Show at Centennial Park opens with free horse and carriage rides, hot cider and cookies.
