Maureen Mulvey sent us information on an Irish event in Toronto:
100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Dublin – April 24th 1916
Sunday April 24th – As part of a Worldwide event Easter Rising Ceili 2016
-to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland, An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha (an associated body of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of Canada – Eastern Region) has asked regional councils and dance teachers around the world to organize ceilis to promote Irish culture (music, dancing, song etc.) simultaneously
Event Organizers: -Ryan Carroll, Regional Director from the Teachers Association, and Maureen Mulvey, well-known ceili caller and long-standing Comhaltas member, (and current chair) are working together to arrange this celebration of Ireland’s history
Event Location: -the event will take place at in the Stealth Lounge at: The Pilot, 22 Cumberland Street, Toronto, ON, M4W 1J5, (416) 923-5716 on Sunday April 24 from 3pm-8pm
Event Information: -admission will be $5 at the door to cover facility and entertainment costs
-this event is run as a not-for-profit function so any admission surplus will be donated toward a youth-based Irish music/dance camp put on each summer by co-organizer Maureen Mulvey

-live music will be played for the ceili dancing, and there will be breaks for singing, storytelling and the like
-a scheduled time for an official reading of the 1916 Proclamation will be posted here
