The CHIN Picnic used to be on the CNE grounds. Its main stage this year is on College Street and Markham St. in Little Italy. This festival is a smaller version of its former huge self.
This year’s international headliners are from Puerto Rico, New York, Portugal and Italy. Instead of a folklore competition, it will have folklore performances, each group receiving $250 to $500.
The CHIN Picnic celebrates the diverse cultures of Toronto, with music, vendors, food and performances from local as well as international talent. Now in its 50th year, it will have “authentic” cultural vendors, a kids zone, and more. This year’s free event is in conjunction with Taste of Little Italy festival. http://www.chinradio.com/chin-picnic.Image from the CHIN Picnic 2013 Folklore Competition.
