761. June 7-13 Affordable Events in Multicultural Toronto – 2017

Baltics, China, Greece, Philippines and Portugal are among the regions and countries from which these free or nearly-free Toronto events this week have their roots. Everyone is welcome to join them.

Philippines. Independence Day is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12, commemorating the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. Since 1962, it has been the country’s National Day.

Portugal. Flag Raising Ceremony. June 8. 12pm. Free. Toronto City Hall. http://bit.ly/1pPIv5d

Portugal. Portugal Day Parade. June 10. 11am. Free. This long, colourful parade goes along Dundas Street West, from Lansdowne to Trinity Bellwoods Park. People dress up in the costumes of their heritage provinces, each province different. http://acapo.ca/events .
