332. Images from Polish Heritage Day at the ROM

I learned a lot at Polish Heritage Day last month at the ROM. The folk dances from different regions of Poland were colourful and lively. Each region had a distinct style and costume. The exhibits were good too – Polish history, famous Canadians of Polish background, and a Polish-Canadian museum.

I was favourably impressed by the liveliness of the dances.
I sat through two hours of folk dancing and was not bored. Copyright ©2012 Ruth Lor Malloy

It’s always great to see children learning aspects of
their cultural heritage. Some must have been
about 5 years old. Copyright ©2012 Ruth Lor Malloy

Some of the dances showed off the acrobatics of the men. This one by Cambridge’s Polonez dancers was from the mountainous south. I loved the costumes. Copyright ©2012 Ruth Lor Malloy

Vick Dudalski, right, leader of Ludowa Nuta of Hamilton played different notes on a long horn, much like horns in Switzerland and Tibet. It must have been at least 15 feet long. Copyright ©2012 Ruth Lor Malloy
