India. Navratri Garba 2016. Sunday September 25. 6pm. $20. Worship of the nine incarnations of the Hindu goddess Durga, with music and dance. The festival marks the victory of good over evil. Multicultural. The Word on the Street. September 25 11am-6pm. Free entry. Harbourfront Centre. Meet authors and see their new books. Among those present are Naomi Duguid and her cookbook Taste of Persia: A Cook’s Travels Through Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, and Kurdistan. There’s also Tanwa Adanlawo who was born in Nigeria, raised in South Africa and currently is a student at the University of Toronto. Phantom Rose is her first published work. Best-selling author André Alexis was born in Trinidad and grew up in Canada.
