I don’t know what kind of food will be there this year, but last year’s Family Food Day had dishes from Mauritania, Syria, Senegal, Somalia and several other countries. The variety is part of the adventure. Some of the food was home-made, some from interesting ethnic restaurants. What I sampled was delicious and different.
Presented by the Understanding Islam Academy and MuslimFest, this well-organized festival is the place to learn about many different kinds of cuisine. If you come early enough before the crowds arrive, you can ask questions about spices, cooking methods and catering. You might discover our next interesting ethnic food trend.
Sunday, February 14, 2016 (Family Day Weekend). 11 am-6 pm. John Fraser Secondary School, 2665 Erin Centre Blvd, Mississauga. Entry free. Food extra. Contact: Visit www.FamilyFoodDay.com. Email: info@uia.ca. Tel. 877-994-3292.
